Rumi: an 800th birthday party
With bestselling poet Coleman Barks and
Grammy Award-winning musicians Paul Winter and Glen Velez

NEW HAVEN – Just 800 years after his birth, Rumi, the Persian scholar who founded the Whirling Dervishes, is the top selling poet in America. On April 27, Rumi’s most famous translator, Coleman Barks, will read Rumi’s poems to musical accompaniment by Grammy Award-winners Paul Winter and Glen Velez. Also performing are Poet Laureates Lisa Starr and Marjory Wentworth.
Proceeds to benefit for Connecticut Food Bank.

Another perfect spring day yesterday. More yard work, again being amazed as the faces of the flowers open to the sun, with such color, such form. K. called out of the blue to invite me and Bindi to the dog park, a spontaneous get together, my favorite, and what a good time we had. So many wonderful canines, including a small black and white Papillon that I was enchanted by. A big dog aggressed on Bindi, didn't hurt her but frightened her, but her owner did not apologize, so we went home. Stopped at a couple of tag sales. Got a frame for Frances' art, had a piece of glass cut for it, now to find some background paper. Put my new table in the foyer which I am cleaning out, and what a difference it makes. So classy now. My knees hurt a lot.
